OS X support

General information
This is a quick tutorial for getting the EVE Planetary Planner running under OS X. Since the app is developed for Windows and uses a wrapper to be running on your Mac it could be  that there are some quirks or problems which won't necessarily happen on Windows. Please don't bother Ideki with those issues since it's most likely out of his control to fix those issues.

The Windows version has been developed using the .NET framework 4.0. I tried to use the Winetricks for this version of the framework but it didn't work. So far the wrapper works fine without, only the automatic update is not working, not sure if this is connected. Since the development will be ported to a different environment this could change in the future.

Since the automatic update is not working, this would have to be done manually. After downloading the files again, you can navigate to the Wrapper in Finder, Command-Click on it and select “Show Package Content”. The Path is something like: /Wineskin/PIPlanner.app/Contents/Resources/drive_c/Program Files/PI Now you can just simply replace the files which are updated. From what I have seen so far this should have no impact on any saved files.

Get the latest version of Wineskin and install it: http://sourceforge.net/projects/wineskin/
Download EVEPlanetaryPlanner.zip, PlanetaryInteraction.xml and Systems.xml, unpack the .zip and place all four files in a folder on your desktop: http://eveplanetaryplanner.com/Download.html

How to
  1. Launch the Wineskin Winery app, you will see this screen. Make sure that the latest Engine is installed (1) before you proceed creating a Blank Wrapper (2). You can add the latest engine by using the “+” button.

  3. Give the app a name and click OK.

  5. Once the creation process has finished, view the wrapper in Finder.

  7. Double-click the wrapper you have created and click on “Install Software”.

  9. In the Installer screen select “Move a Folder inside” and select the folder you copied all files into from step 1.

  11. A window will appear in which you are asked to confirm the executable file. This should be the correct one, just click OK.

  13. Once you're finished you can find the app in the Applications folder of your user (/User/yourusername/Applications/Wineskin/). If you start it now, you might get an error message regarding the update which you can ignore at the moment. I'm not sure how to resolve this issue, so there is no way to use the automatic update function.
